Dr Zaid Ardalan is a gastroenterologist and hepatologist with expertise in the investigation and management of a broad range of conditions, including iron deficiency anaemia, inflammatory bowel disease, functional gastrointestinal disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome, and liver disease. He also provides comprehensive care for patients with more complex conditions, such as immune-mediated gastrointestinal disorders, complications of ileoanal pouches, and advanced liver disease.

Dr Ardalan offers a range of procedures tailored to patient needs, including intestinal ultrasound performed at his consulting rooms, as well as gastroscopy and colonoscopy at The Avenue Hospital.

After completing his medical and gastroenterology training in Melbourne, Dr Ardalan undertook advanced clinical fellowships in inflammatory bowel disease at Oxford University and hepatology at Austin Health. He earned his PhD at The Alfred Hospital and Monash University, focusing on improving diagnostic approaches and the role of dietary modifications in inflammatory bowel disease outcomes.

Dr Ardalan holds public appointments at The Alfred Hospital and Royal Melbourne Hospital, where he consults in specialised clinics, including the Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) clinic, the ileoanal pouch clinic, and the immunology-oncology complications clinic. He is also an adjunct clinical researcher at Monash University, with ongoing research interests in artificial intelligence for medical diagnostics, intestinal ultrasound, and innovative treatments for inflammatory bowel disease.
