Intestinal Ultrasound

What is an intestinal ultrasound (IUS) ?

It is an abdominal ultrasound examination used to assess inflammatory bowel diseases and various gastrointestinal symptoms such as bloating, constipation, diarrhoea, and abdominal discomfort.

How is it done?

It is performed as a consultation and ultrasound by a specialist in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and typically takes 30 minutes. It is non-invasive, painless, and does not require bowel preparation, fasting, or sedation.

When do the results come out?

Following your intestinal ultrasound, patients will be provided with their results immediately, and a treatment plan will be discussed with them.

How much does it cost?

The procedure is bulk billed on weekdays and available at minimal costs in the evenings and on Saturdays, avoiding long delays often experienced in the public system.
